February 3, 2013

Sleigh bells ring, are you listening?
In the lane, snow is glistening.
A beautiful sight,
We're happy tonight.
Walking in a winter wonderland.

I couldn't get this song out of my head yesterday! When I woke up (well I know I'm gonna be, I'm gonna be the man who wakes up next to you), I took a peak out of my blinds and could not believe how much snow was inhabiting my backyard! I would later find out on my way to church, that all of Port Colborne had been blessed with nature's gift.

On the drive out towards Gasline, the trees along Hwy. 3 were covered in snow and had a very picturesque look about them. As we drove along the curve and passed Snider Road, I felt like we had stepped inside of a winter painting.

At this very moment, I wished that I could temporarily convert into a robot, so that my eyes, which I would have altered to act as a shutter, would physically be able to capture the scenery that I was perceiving. Then, when my robotic self got home, I could upload the picture to my computer and keep it for all eternity! Afterwards, I would turn back into a human.

Since I was unable to do said robotic transformations, I shut my eyes long enough to take a mental photograph.

I swear I heard the click of the shutter cocking as I closed my eyes.

However, when I got home from church, which was sometime in the early afternoon, the temperature had warmed up slightly and the snow was beginning to melt. I grabbed my camera gear, put my long johns on (it's winter, therefore I rarely leave the house without them!), and went for an hour walk around Port Colborne.

I had only just got to the Marina when I noticed that the battery level on my camera was almost out.

Silly rabbit.
